NEW RELEASES DISPLAY SCHILD ESTATE SHIRAZ DIVERSITY

Schild Estate Wines is proud to announce the release of three new vintage wines that showcase the breadth of the family?owned Barossa winery’s Shiraz offering:

2010 Schild Estate Barossa Shiraz

Production: 22,000 cases. RRP $20. Commended – Decanter World Wine Awards 2012.

Reflecting the soft, elegant palate of the southern Barossa Valley, the fruit is sourced from a number of carefully selected vineyard parcels, picked during the cool of the night and processed in open fermenters before maturation in French and American Oak.

2008 Ben Schild Reserve Shiraz

Production: 2,800 six?packs. RRP $30. Silver medal – Decanter World Wine Awards 2012.

Made from a single?vineyard parcel from the low?yielding Angus Brae vineyard in the hills overlooking Lyndoch, the wine is matured for 17 months in French, American and Hungarian oak, with a further 24 months bottle maturation before release.

2007 Moorooroo Limited Release Shiraz

Just 230 six?packs of this iconic wine were made. RRP $85.

Only four rows of the 165 year?old, low?yielding Moorooroo vines remain. Fruit is carefully hand?harvested before fermentation in traditional open fermenters, and then matured for 24 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak. The wine is bottled with minimal filtration and rests for two years in bottle before release.

“In one form or another, Shiraz is the backbone of the Schild Estate portfolio,” said winemaker Scott Hazeldine. “These three wines represent the full extent of our efforts with the grape, from our popular Estate Shiraz right through to the old vine, single vineyard offerings of the Ben Schild Reserve and the Moorooroo Shiraz.

“These new releases also come from three very different vintages including the challenging 07 and 08 harvests.  As such, from a long?term quality point of view, it is particularly gratifying to see wines across the range being positively acknowledged, especially by publications and events as well respected and important as Decanter and the IWC.”
